This group is mandatory for all clients with children, custodial or non-custodial and is also recommended for all clients in treatment that may become a parent. This group focuses on how addiction affects the entire family unit, the roles played by each family member and how this contributes to the dysfunctional addiction process. Also discussed are the biological predisposition of addiction and family. Each client is also provided tools such as coping skills to change the destructive patterns and the importance for the families to become educated through family counseling and/or for the children to become involved in intervention programs. All clients and their families are offered information on community resources within the area to seek services.
